Millennium Academy Performs With Brutus Buckeye
Millennium Irish Dance Company has enjoyed numerous high energy performances at Ohio State basketball games and with world renowned Irish bands such as Gaelic Storm, Eileen Ivers, Natalie MacMaster and The Makem Brothers, in addition to local Ohio favorites The Drowsy Lads, The Kells, Homeland and Aisling. The dancers also perform at a variety of corporate functions and civic events, at retirement homes, school educational programs, Rotary and Kiwanis events, Girl Scout events, and many festivals, including the Newark Irish Festival and two of our favorites, the Granville Irish Festival and Dublin Irish Festival.
Millennium Academy Performs With CityMusic Columbus
Millennium Academy dancers enjoyed a wonderful performance with some of Ireland's most accomplished musicians on Sunday, December 13, 2009, when they were asked to dance with Teada: Irish Christmas in America. The concert was presented by CityMusic Columbus and took place at The Fawcett Center, 2400 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, Ohio.
Columbus Studio Opens in Worthington
August 1st, 2009 (Worthington, Ohio) – Muireann Ni Chiara, Artistic Director, TCRG, ADCRG, is pleased to announce the grand opening of the Columbus studio of Millennium Academy of Irish Dance. Registrations are now being taken for fall classes at the studio conveniently located at 6185 Huntley Road Suite N, Worthington, Ohio 43229.
Classes offered include New Beginner, Novice, Prizewinner and Championship Irish Dance classes. All classes will be held in a dedicated studio space with professional sprung floors and mirrors. Dance classes are designed to develop strong dance technique in a nurturing and fun environment. Millennium Academy instructors strive to improve each dancer’s self confidence and skill in a positive, productive class setting, enabling the dancers to develop an appreciation for Irish Dance.
“We are very excited about having a dedicated Irish Dance space in Columbus. We look forward to expanding our programs and providing more class options for our current Columbus Irish dancers. We are also adding a range of new classes to our schedule including two new beginner classes on Saturday mornings in the Fall. The Director of Millennium Academy of Irish Dance, Muireann Ni Chiara, is originally from County Tipperary, Ireland. Muireann came to the United States in 1999 to take the position of Professor of World Dance at Denison University in Granville, Ohio after completing Masters Degree in Irish Dance at the University of Limerick, Ireland. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Music and Masters of Education from University College Cork, Ireland. In 2001 she founded Ni Chiara School of Irish Dance and has not looked back since. As a registered teacher and adjudicator with An Coimisiún le Rincí Gaelacha (The Irish Dance Commission Ireland ) Muireann enjoys teaching her dancers to share her passion for Irish Dance.
